It is now time to announce the Winner in the July, 2007 SassyKathi Oldies Contest. It was so very, very close this month and choosing the winner was both excruciating and a labor of love.

REQUIREMENTS: OnlinePopstar is an industry leader in talent and our Judges Panel aims to be prestigious. To be chosen as an OnlinePopstar judge, you should work or have expertise in the music industry, have professional credentials or projects of merit that you have accomplished and have a great ear for vocal talent. You must be completely comfortable in scoring vocal competitors according to their level of talent; the contest is not a love-fest, we are looking for honest, accurate scoring from the judges panel.

OnlinePopstar Launches PopstarKids Talent Search!

"School's out for summer!"

It's the jubilant war cry of kids everywhere that induces panic in the hearts of parents.

OnlinePopstar answers the call and is here with ready-made karaoke fun for kids of all ages!

With a leap of joy, we proudly announce the launch of PopstarKids at OnlinePopstar!

The PopstarKids section is now open and ready for your song submissions!

Any OnlinePopstar member with an All Access Pass can upload recordings of their children (ages 2-14) singing (or reciting a poem, etc.) and they'll be posted on the public site where anyone can go and listen! You can also upload a picture and a message to share with friends and family!

This is a great way for our members to share their love of karaoke and singing with their kids and also lets the kids have their own moment in the spotlight!

There is a message board on the PopstarKids page for family and friends to leave messages for our PopstarKids, too!

Kids who are so inclined are welcome to submit their songs (karaoke, a cappella, or originals) to the site and enter in the PopstarKids Contest!

Music is a wonderful creative outlet for people of all ages, children especially. Musically-involved kids are far less likely to become bored with free time on their hands as musical pursuits are completely creative and engaging!

Kids who pursue musical interests perform better in school and socially than those who don't and statistics show that children who pursue creative interests rarely encounter trouble with drugs, alcohol, and the law.

We hope that everyone takes advantage of the fun and excitement that is offered at PopstarKids and comes up with some great sounds to show off to the world!

Esteemed OnlinePopstar Judge and Bluesprings Music Owner, Mr. Ken Pearson, graciously invited all OnlinePopstar members to participate in a discussion with him on Monday, May 1st, at 9:00 pm (EST) at CyberStars Chat.

Mr. Pearson has been involved in the music business all his life, performing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 13. In the 60’s he was opening for such recording artists as SAM THE SHAM, JERRY LEE LEWIS, SAM COOK, OTIS REDDING, and others. Ken Pearson has played on stage, and with such diverse artists as Charlie Daniels, 38 Special, Cheap Trick, Wet Willie, The Bellamy Brothers and others.

Today, as the CEO of Bluesprings Music Group, Ken promotes artists and works closely with important decision makers from every major record label in America and Europe. As such, he has keen insight into the inner-workings of the music industry and was kind enough to share his wisdom and knowlegde with OnlinePopstar members during the 90 minute live chat.

OnlinePopstar members were given the unique and wonderful opportunity to ask questions about the music business.

The questions he answered pertained to ageism in the music industry, writing your own music, the specifics of press kits, and artist promotion and representation. Many of his answers dispelled long-held beliefs and myths that people have about making it in "the biz."
